Vacancy: Senior Project Manager

We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced and dedicated Senior Project Manager to join our team. This individual will be responsible for successfully managing ICT, telephony, and contact centre related solutions and manage all aspects of the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate should have an aptitude for understanding innovative technology and extensive experience in project management. We expect the candidate to be a reliable professional, able to achieve balance between customer alignment and a results-driven approach. The goal is to successfully manage the implementation process and all relationships with project stakeholders and dependencies.

  • Relevant degree, diploma or experience


  • Previous telecom experience and demonstrated use of project management concepts
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry
  • Demonstrated competency in determining and analysing customer needs and planning complex projects to achieve results
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in managing IP based voice, contact centre, or communications and infrastructure solutions projects
  • Experience implementing Genesys contact centre solutions (advantageous)
  • Experience with Open Source solutions (advantageous)
  • Experience with managing ICT projects and knowledge of various network related components including connectivity options (advantageous)
  • Experience managing project with full suite of communications solutions from network services, infrastructure, IP Telephony, Lan/Wan technologies and Internet

Key responsibilities:
The senior project manager is responsible for the management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery as well as contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.

The Senior Project Manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis, verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.

The senior project manager will work directly with the head of the project management office and the Pivotal department managers to coordinate and manage all activities in the installation of Pivotal’s solutions.

In addition to the above the detail includes:

  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Plan, communicate and manage all aspects of complex projects
  • Coordinate project deliverable dependencies and timelines
  • Work effectively with other company departments to drive projects to meet implementation scheduling and milestones and coordinate project dependencies
  • Work with resources to verify system readiness and direct implementation testing and production release
  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and participate in the project management team meetings
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the project
  • Define the Statement of Work and Specifications for the requested goods and services
  • Set and continually manage project expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Adhere to the frequency and content of status reports from the project and program team, analyse results and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with project stakeholders and sponsors
  • Monitor the performance of resources and escalate issues when required

Skills required:

  • Advanced level of MS Office and PC proficiency

Project Management:

  • Organisational Skills – Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Communication Skills – Ability to effectively communicate project updates, risks, issues and changes
  • Planning and time management – Discipline and work ethic to track and manage tasks


  • Sound knowledge of IP telephony solutions, contact centre solutions, and applications the complement and support these solutions
  • Sound understanding of SIP based technology and related components
